From scenic beaches offering an escape from the busy city life, to those action-packed with thrilling water sports, parties and adventure; there are so many options when it comes to beach getaways. There are so many incredible beach holiday deals you really have no excuse to start planning your next summer getaway.
Last year we experienced some incredible beaches from around the world and want to share with you our top 5 to help increase your beach holiday wanderlust!
1. Zlatni Rat Beach, Croatia
Zlatni Rat Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Croatian coastline and has put Bol on the map. It was created by deposits of fine pebbles as sediment around the underwater reef, spreading as a small tongue up to 500 metres into the sea. The very tip of Zlatni Rat keeps changing its shape due to the influence of winds, waves and sea currents, making it appear different and very unique.
This beach is a protected natural area and a favourite spot for surfers and kite-surfers from around the globe. Zlatni Rat beach is only 2 km from Bol, and you can easily reach the beach either by car or by a 20-minute walk along the coast. During the summer months, every half an hour there is a small tourist train going to the beach, as well as tourist boats that take off from the port of Bol.
2. Koh Rang Yai Beach, Thailand
Hands down, Koh Rang Yai Beach in Thailand has the best snorkelling we have ever experienced! Located on a peaceful island with the same name lying about five kilometres off the east coast of Phuket. The islands western side has the one-km long beach.
Because of its western-facing beach it’s ideal for water sports and sunbathing in the afternoon - but snorkelling is a must above all else!
3. Kolymbithres Beach, Greece
The beach of Kolimbithres is one of the most famous beaches of Paros and is located in the huge bay of Naoussa. This beach is particularly impressive because of the huge blocks of granite boarding it, sculpted into strange smooth shapes by the sea and the wind over the centuries.
Small sandy coves make up the beach of Kolimbithres (which means swimming pools), and at some times of the year these small coves create private tiny bays. Sun beds and umbrellas can be hired in some of the beaches and water sports facilities are also available. Also, a few beach bars and taverns can be found along the road leading to the beach.
4. Ein Gedi Beach, Israel
Ein Gedi Beach is one of the lowest beaches in the world, located along the Dead Sea. This has made the list as one of the most unique beach locations! Its famously hypersaline water makes floating easy, and its mineral-rich black mud is used amazing for the skin. Spend your day floating with ease and covering yourself in mud (rather than spending the hundreds of dollars the local spas will charge you).
5. Private Sand Cay, The Maldives
Okay, so maybe not exactly a beach - a sand cay is a small, low-elevation, sandy island on the surface of a coral reef. Cays occur in tropical environments throughout the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans, and take thousands of years to form.
During a trip to the Maldives we took a small catamaran out to a local sand cay, and had the entire cay to ourselves!
