9 Day Itinerary

Day 1 (Sept 19): Welcome to China!

Meals: Dinner

Your family adventure begins in the vibrant city of Shanghai, where futuristic skyscrapers meet centuries of history. Upon arrival at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, our local team will be waiting to greet you before transferring you to our centrally located hotel.

After checking in, take some time to relax, settle in, or head out to explore the neighbourhood before we officially kick off the expedition.

This evening, we'll come together for our welcome dinner, where you'll meet your fellow travelling families, Stephen, Jess, and our incredible local guides. It's the perfect opportunity to get to know one another, chat about the exciting journey ahead, and enjoy your first taste of authentic Chinese cuisine.

Overnight: Shanghai

Day 2 (Sept 20): Shanghai's Hidden Gems

Meals: Breakfast

Today we'll discover the perfect blend of old and new as we explore some of Shanghai's most iconic sights.

Our morning begins at the beautiful Yu Garden, a peaceful oasis of traditional Chinese architecture, koi-filled ponds, and beautifully landscaped courtyards that has stood in the heart of Shanghai for over 400 years. From there, we'll wander through the surrounding Old Town, where bustling market streets offer everything from local delicacies to traditional crafts and souvenirs.

Later, we'll escape the city's towering skyline and journey to the enchanting Zhujiajiao Water Town. Often referred to as the "Venice of Shanghai," this ancient canal town is filled with charming stone bridges, narrow waterways, traditional teahouses, and centuries-old architecture. It's the perfect place to slow down, soak up the atmosphere, and experience a different side of China.

After a day of exploring, we'll return to our hotel to relax and enjoy the evening.

Day 3 (Sept 21): Welcome to the Magic of Shanghai Disneyland

Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning before the next chapter of our adventure begins. Take some time to relax, enjoy a slow start to the day, or explore a little more of Shanghai before we make our way to one of the most magical places on earth.

Around midday, we'll transfer to Shanghai Disneyland Resort, where we'll check into the incredible Toy Story Hotel.

The remainder of the afternoon and evening is yours to enjoy. You may choose to relax and explore the resort, browse the shops and restaurants at Disneytown, or, if you'd like to get a head start on the magic, you're welcome to make your way into Shanghai Disneyland for the evening.

• We thought some families will want to visit dinsey on their own the afternoon of this day so we think remove the spa and transfer us after lunchtime to the hotel for those families that want extra time at disnet.

Day 4 (Sept 22): A Full Day at Shanghai Disneyland

Meals: Breakfast

Today is dedicated to experiencing all the magic, excitement, and wonder of Shanghai Disneyland!

With a full day to explore at your own pace, you'll have plenty of time to discover the park's incredible themed lands, enjoy world-class attractions, meet beloved Disney characters, and create unforgettable family memories. From the thrilling TRON Lightcycle Power Run and the immersive Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure to the enchanting Castle of the Storybook Princess, there's something for every age to enjoy.

Take time to sample delicious Disney treats, browse the unique shops, watch spectacular live entertainment, and soak up the magical atmosphere that makes Shanghai Disneyland one of the most unique Disney parks in the world.

As the sun sets, gather together for the breathtaking nighttime spectacular, a magical way to end an unforgettable day before returning to the Toy Story Hotel.

Day 5 (Sept 23): Welcome to Chengdu

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

This morning, we'll farewell Shanghai and board our flight to Chengdu, the vibrant capital of Sichuan Province and the heart of China's famous Sichuan cuisine.

After arriving and checking into our hotel, you'll have some time to settle in before we head out for one of the most exciting evenings of the expedition.

Hop aboard colourful tuk-tuks as we weave through Chengdu's lively streets on an unforgettable street food adventure. Guided by local experts, we'll discover hidden laneways and bustling neighbourhoods while sampling a variety of authentic Sichuan dishes and local favourites.

After an evening of incredible food, culture, and fun, we'll return to our hotel ready for another exciting day of adventure tomorrow.

Overnight: Chengdu

Day 6 (Sept 24): Pandas & Sichuan Culture

Meals: Breakfast

Today begins with one of China's most iconic wildlife experiences as we visit the world-famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.

Home to China's beloved giant pandas, the research base offers a rare opportunity to observe these gentle giants up close in beautifully designed natural habitats. Watch playful cubs climb trees, adults lazily munch on bamboo, and learn about the incredible conservation efforts helping to protect one of the world's most treasured animals.

This afternoon, you'll have some free time to relax or explore Chengdu at your own pace before we come together for an unforgettable cultural experience.

This evening, we'll witness the spectacular Sichuan Opera, famous for its incredible face-changing performances. Combining music, acrobatics, comedy, puppetry, and centuries-old storytelling, this unique art form is unlike anything you've seen before. Keep your eyes peeled as performers appear to change their colourful masks in the blink of an eye, a tradition that has captivated audiences for generations.

After an incredible day of pandas and culture, we'll return to our hotel for the evening.

Day 7 (Sept 25): Welcome to Beijing

Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, we'll farewell Chengdu and board our flight to Beijing, China's fascinating capital where ancient history and modern life come together.

Upon arrival, we'll transfer to our hotel and enjoy some free time to settle in or explore the local area before tonight's unforgettable performance.

This evening, we'll experience the spectacular Beijing Acrobatic Show, where talented performers showcase incredible feats of strength, balance, flexibility, and precision. From gravity-defying aerial acts to jaw-dropping stunts and dazzling choreography, this world-renowned performance has been entertaining audiences for generations and is sure to leave the whole family amazed.

After the show, we'll return to our hotel to rest ahead of an exciting day exploring one of the world's greatest wonders tomorrow.

Day 8 (Sept 26): The Great Wall of China

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

Today is all about experiencing one of the world's greatest wonders as we journey to the breathtaking Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China.

Surrounded by rolling mountains and lush forests, we'll take the scenic cable car up to the wall, giving us plenty of time to explore this remarkable feat of engineering, soak in the incredible views, and imagine the centuries of history that unfolded along these ancient stones. Whether you're walking the restored watchtowers or simply taking in the panoramic scenery, it's a truly unforgettable experience for the whole family.

Back in Beijing, we'll get hands-on with a fun cultural activity as we decorate our own traditional Beijing Opera masks, learning about the colours, symbols, and stories behind one of China's most iconic art forms.

This evening, we'll come together for a special farewell dinner, enjoying Beijing's world-famous Peking Duck as we celebrate an incredible journey across China. It's the perfect opportunity to reflect on the unforgettable memories we've shared and toast new friendships made along the way.

Day 9 (Sept 27): Farewell, China!

Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to your fellow travellers as our incredible China adventure comes to an end.

At the appropriate time, you'll be transferred to Beijing Capital International Airport for your onward flight home or to your next destination.
