YOU HAVE TO STOP THE CAR: BEST PHOTO SPOTS ON A WESTERN CANADIAN ROAD TRIP

When people first hear that we have been to over 30 countries, their first reply is always "Where was your favourite spot?" or "Where was the most beautiful place you have been to?". I always seem to stumble between Alaska and Western Canada and how could I? They are both extremely beautiful and kinda in the same spot in the world.

However, if I had to choose between the two and it was one of those end of the world scenarios then I think the crown would go to Western Canada. There is just so much beauty and so many photo spots that you simply cannot miss when going on a road trip.

Look through the Telescopes at Lake Louise, Banff

You have to get the iconic telescope shot at Lake Louise, they are just sitting there begging you to take a photo of them.

Stop and Stare at Lake Moraine

Out of all the lakes, rivers and glaciers that we saw on our Canadian road trip (one we did twice I might add) is the views you see at Moraine Lake. Seriously though, just do the very quick hike to the top of the pile of rocks and you will see what I am talking about.

Look Over Banff

If you want to see Banff from above we highly (get it?) recommend you check out the Banff Gondola. If it's winter then bring a second jacket as it can get quite chilly being among the mountains. However, it is totally worth braving the cold to get that epic shot of the town below.

See the Icefields Parkway - Bow Lake

Blink and you may miss Bow Lake so I recommend you punch in the address on your GPS before heading out. Mirror-like lake shots are what you can expect on this stop of the road trip.

Peyto Lake

You think by hitting this point on your road trip you are well and truly sick of seeing incredibly beautiful turquoise lakes? Well think again as the views at the end of this 10 minute walk from the carpark are well worth your time.

Also try and refrain from calling in potato lake in your best Samwise Gamgee impression.

Walk on a Glacier

EXPLORING THE ATHABASCA GLACIER

Being surrounded by all white makes for some incredible photographs and Instagram feed goals. Whilst you are there make sure you remember to bring an empty water bottle to try the very cold but very fresh glacier water.

Spot Bears on a Water Safari

Blue River Safari

This entire trip you have been photographing the lakes, so why not jump in? Well if it's the middle of winter I strongly recommend against it unless you are going on a water safari to spot some bears.

The Slopes at Whistler

Whistler Blackcomb

If you are Australian then I wouldn't be surprised if hitting the slopes at Whistler is already at the top of your Canadian bucket list. If it's not then I cannot recommend it enough for both first time and experienced skiers.

The Surf in Tofino

Surfing In Canada

Who knew you could surf in Canada? Well we didn't and one extremely warm wet suit later we were catching the waves... in Canada.

What's the most epic road trip you have been on?
