WHAT TO WEAR IN EGYPT | PACKING TIPS FOR TRAVELLERS

Packing for conservative countries can be a little tricky, especially if you are going during one of the hottest months of the year. Last July we headed to Egypt for two weeks and at first I did feel a little overwhelmed trying to work out what to pack. However, after visiting I have to say that there was nothing to be worried about. I saw tourists wearing an array of clothing options, from tiny shorts and a crop top to others covering themselves with way too many layers.

I think the main thing to think about when packing for Egypt is bringing pieces that are lightweight and breathable, but still modest to stay respectful to the country you are visiting.

What I Wore in Egypt

Linen Tops

  • We went to Egypt in July ... and it was HOT! I recommend packing a couple of lightweight, linen button up tops in neutral colours. That way you can still cover up and be modest, but still be comfortable.

I love this black linen button up from Petal & Pup.

This short sleeve utility shirt from ASOS is also a perfect option.

For Trousers go for Culottes

  • If I am travelling to a warmer country but want to stay modest I always opt for culottes. They cover your legs, but are still nice and breezy so you can handle the Egypt heat.

If you are looking for a standard black pair ASOS has some great options.

I also love these khaki culottes from ASOS.

A camel colour also works really well in Egypt, check out these pleated trousers from Petal and Pup.

Jumpsuits

  • If you have been following our travels for a while now you will know how much I love jumpsuits - and they are perfect for Egypt! They are so lightweight and breathable, but still cover your legs.

  • If you bring along some jumpsuits that are strapped I suggest bringing along a scarf to cover up when needed, or attempt to haggle for one in the markets.

I am obsessed with this beige jumpsuit from Petal and Pup.

How cute is this spotted jumpsuit by Sabo Skirt!!

This loose blue & white stripped jumpsuit would also be perfect.

Shoes

  • I basically lived in my converse for the entire trip. You want to wear shoes that are going to be comfortable as you will be doing a lot of walking around all the amazing sights.

  • I also packed a simple pair of sandals that would go with everything. You want to choose something neutral and basic.

EXTRA TIPS ON WHAT TO BRING TO EGYPT

  • Shirts over tank tops. This way you can feel comfortable and modest, and also cover up from the harsh sun.

  • Choose loose fitting clothing that are breathable.

  • Don't forget the sunscreen.

  • Pack a wide brimmed hat to protect you from the sun.

  • Bring a pair of sunnies.
