HOW TO HAVE THE PERFECT 24 HOUR LAYOVER IN PARIS

We have just come back from an incredible month long holiday through the USA with our beautiful friends, The Grinceris. Since we started Flying The Nest over four years ago we have never simply gone on a holiday, leaving our camera behind (and this technically didn't happen this time either as we did film a round up video with all the memories we collected from the month).

After our vacay we were itching to film some new travel series for you all and we had an overwhelming amount of you wanting to see more of Eastern Europe. So we jumped online to find the cheapest way for us to get from LA to Europe and we found a $500 flight direct to Paris ... done deal!

We gave ourselves a 24 hour layover in the city of love, before flying out to start a brand new adventure in Slovakia. If you have an upcoming trip or layover in Paris coming up we filmed our entire day, sharing with you how to have the perfect 24 hour layover here in this magical city.

Check into The Peninsula Paris

If you are going to be spending only one night in Paris we think it is okay to treat yourself and stay in a hotel you have always dreamed of experiencing. For us that hotel is The Peninsula Paris, this is the queen of luxury hotels in Paris and we were lucky enough to collaborate with them on a two night stay.

When coming to Paris for such a short amount of time location is key. The Peninsula is right by the Arc de Triomphe, a short stroll from the Champs-Élysées and a couple of metro stops away from the Eiffel Tower. The rooms are beautiful and spacious and the views from the 6th floor restaurant give you an amazing view over the city.

8:00 am - Enjoy Breakfast at the Hotel

The breakfast at The Peninsula Hotel is next level. Croissants, fresh fruit, yoghurt, eggs cooked exactly the way you like it, baskets overflowing with baked goods... its basically the breakfast of dreams! Even if you aren't staying at the hotel we highly recommend heading here one morning just to experience their breakfast.

9:00 am - Take a stroll (and a cheeky shop) down Champs-Élysées

This beautiful street is 1.9km long and is full of boutique shops and department stores. We walked the entire strip and may have done a little shopping of our own. We recommend coming out early when the stores just upon as the street is way less busy and many coffee shops and bakeries have just opened up ready for you to enjoy a croissant or two as you shop.

11:00 am - Quick visit to the Louvre & Notre Dame

If you are coming to Paris, even just for a day, you want to tick of at least a couple of the iconic sights. Two of our favourites are the Louvre and Notre Dame. Even though we did not have time to enter, just being in their presence is special enough. We walked here all the way from our hotel, which took around an hour, but allowed us to really get a feel for the city and stumble upon spots we would have missed if we took the metro.

12:00 pm - Lunch at Le Tribeca

We were looking for a lunch spot near the Eiffel Tower that served baked camembert and after a little google search we stumbled upon this cute little spot called Le Tribeca. The food here was delicious and they have seating along the pedestrian street which made a beautiful setting for a romantic lunch together.

2:00 pm - Dessert at Pierre Hermé

Once of our all time favourite dessert shops in Paris is Pierre Hermé. There is one right near the Eiffel Tower and this is where you will find the tastiest macaroons ever!

4:00 pm - Afternoon Seine River Boat Cruise

For only €15 you can cruise along the Seine River taking you through the center of Paris. The cruises leave from the Eiffel Tower and is a beautiful way to see a lot of the city, especially if you go in the late afternoon. The boat leaves every 30 minutes so you don't need to worry about missing your boat and you can opt for a glass of champagne as you cruise through the city.

6:00 pm - Watch the sunset on top of the Eiffel Tower

A visit to Paris is not complete without heading up the Eiffel Tower. It is such an iconic landmark and a sight you do not want to miss. As we only had one day here in Paris we decided to purchase skip-the-line tickets so we didn't waste most of the day lining up. We decided to go for the 6pm session and once you are up there you can stay as long as you like. Watching the sun set over such a perfect day was the cherry on top of this amazing layover!

8:00 pm - Take in the last few moments in this magical city

Once you head back down the Eiffel Tower we recommend taking a seat in the grassed area, grab a crepe and take in the last few moments in this magical city. Once the sun sets the tower lights up and is one of our favourite sights to experience here in Paris.
