4 SUMMER ACTIVITIES TO DO IN PERTH

If you’re looking for some fun but inexpensive things to do in this summer you’ll find plenty of them in Perth. Even though last year we were mostly away from Perth, we still call it home and love to do as much as possible while back home. From beautiful beaches, marine parks, bushwalking trails, to botanical gardens and exotic wineries, this place has so much to offer, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

It's well known that Australia can be expensive to travel to but even if you’re travelling on a budget, you can still enjoy many rich experiences here. Some of these must-see destinations and unique activities are quite affordable, while others won’t even cost a single cent.

So, if you are experiencing Perth for the first time, starting planning your trip now, and look for a car rental in Perth airport, so you won’t waste money on expensive taxi fares and have the freedom and convenience to go anywhere you want.

To help you with the trip notes, we’re going to share or local spots and destinations you can visit and exciting things you can do during your trip to our beautiful city and its surrounding areas.

Leave the City, head to Mandurah!

Some of the best experiences in our state are worth renting a car for. Just an hour outside of the city is Mandurah, a beautiful spot and a good start on exploring some of our incredible beaches. There's plenty of wildlife there including dolphins and penguins which brings us onto our next point.

Meet loveable penguins

Yep, Perth has Penguins! Situated south of Perth, Penguin Island is just a quick ferry ride away across Shoalwater Bay. If you love nature and want to see a variety of wildlife and marine creatures, like dolphins, stingrays, sea lions, pelicans, you’ll see them all here. Of course, the star attraction of the island is the cute and adorable penguins.

Entrance is free. You can relax and have a picnic in an area that overlooks the beach or get up close and personal with the penguins at the Discovery Center and have the chance to feed them there.

Up your Instagram game!

Ask the locals on where the best view of our city is, and everyone will reply with Kings Park. Perched high on the top of Mount Eliza, this massive inner-city park can go toe-to-toe with any city park in the world.

Kings Park has an impressive 400-hectare area that is flushed with natural bushlands and beautiful gardens. Pack some sandwiches and have a relaxing picnic while enjoying a stunning view that overlooks the city.

Go Sand Boarding in Lancelin

You may have tried surfing on water. But how about surfing on sand? If you’ve always wanted to try something different, then head north of Perth to the Lancelin Sand Dunes.

Put your skills and courage to the test. Ride a dirt bike or go four-wheel driving across a two-kilometre sand dune system. You can also push yourself to the limit and go sand boarding down enormous 45-degree angle dunes.

Once you’ve had your fill of heart-pumping activities, just pick a spot at one of the peaks and enjoy the marvellous panoramic views overlooking Lancelin, its surrounding farmlands, endless sand dunes, and beautiful coastline.

These are just some of the unique spots to visit and fun things you can do in Perth for cheap. Have you have tried any of them? How was your experience? Are there free activities you’d like to recommend? We’d love to hear from you. Share your thoughts by leaving a comment below
