BOARDING THE BRAND NEW PRINCESS CRUISE SHIP | SKY PRINCESS INAUGURAL CRUISE

Since cruising with Princess earlier this year through Spain and France we have officially caught cruise fever. Being able to board basically a floating village with all the food, drinks and comfort that you may possibly need provided, while also taking you to a brand new place each morning when you wake up - what more could you ask for?

So when Princess invited us to be one of the very first people to ever step foot on their brand new Sky Princess cruise ship sailing from Italy to Greece via Montenegro, how could we say no!

If you want to see what we got up to on our 5 day Mediterranean cruise aboard the brand new Sky Princess make sure you check out our YouTube video below, and keep on scrolling for a bunch of info and snaps from the trip.

The Sky Princess

The moment we stepped foot onto the brand new ship we were instantly impressed. Everything looked so clean, modern and new and were excited to be one of the first to explore and experience the ship! Our favourite spot on the Sky Princess has got to be Deck 15. This is where you will find the multiple pools and hot tubs, bars serving delicious cocktails, different areas to sit & relax and of course this is where you will find the pizza!

Some of the highlights on the Sky Princess are:

  • 4 pools in total; 2 deep-water pools, one infinity-style wake view pool and a retreat pool

  • Adults-only Sanctuary deck

  • Movies Under the Stars

  • Lotus Spa and Fitness Center

  • The many bars & lounges

  • Multiple specialty dining options

  • Vegas-style casino

  • Chef’s Table Lumiere behind-the-scenes dining experience

  • Vines award-winning wine bar

  • Multistory Piazza atrium with strolling performers, boutiques, and dining

Our Balcony Stateroom

We spent the 5 day cruise in one of the ships balcony staterooms and had the most comfortable stay. The beds on Princess are seriously some of the comfiest we have ever slept in! The room also features a full wardrobe, dressing table, a mini-fridge, hairdryer, TV, bathroom with shower and (our favourite part) our own private balcony with table and chairs.

Each morning you can ask to have breakfast delivered to your room free of charge, and if you ever jump on a cruise ship you need to experience breakfast on your balcony at least once!

The Ocean Medallion

Sky Princess is all about innovation and this is obvious the moment you step onto the ship with it being the first Ocean Medallion-enabled new build. Say good bye to the old, plastic cruise cards and say hello to The Medallion. Our favourite features is the way it automatically unlocks your cabin door as you approach and the fact that the staff on-board will all greet you by name and even know your favourite drink order.

Wanting to arrange shore excursions, book a table in one of the speciality dining restaurants or order a midnight snack to your room? This can all be done using the MedallionClass app. With a trackable chip and sensors all over the ship you can basically now order food from anywhere at anytime, so if you are lounging by the pool or want to save a seat you can simply order that slice of pizza and pina colada using the Ocean Now app and a staff member will bring it straight to you.

The Sky Suites

A brand new feature to the Sky Princess that made our jaws drop the moment we saw them is the Sky Suites. These two suites measure 700sq ft and can accommodate up to five guests, but what is really impressive is the fact they have the largest balcony at sea at over 1000sq ft, with uninterrupted 270 degree view!

The suites are located at the very top of the ship on Deck 18, and each feature a living area partially separated from a dining area, with a spacious bedroom on either side. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and storage areas. These suites are seriously HUGE, so being able to poke around before they officially go on sale was an extra treat.

What makes the suites that little bit more special is the additional service that comes along with it. Each suite includes a suite manager to look after you throughout your stay, you can organise private acoustic music to your suite, star gazing sessions, and there is even a mixologist and masseur on call.

The Itinerary: 5 Day Innaugural Mediterranean Cruise

Our five day cruise adventure took us to two beautiful spots in the Mediterranean - Kotor and Athens. Having been to both of these locations before it was so nice re-exploring the little alleyways and cobbled streets and reminiscing on our previous trips. Kotor and Athens are two places that you can easily do in a day which make them the perfect cruise stops.

Our day in Kotor was spent hiking up to the top of the Old Kotor Fort Trail, buying souvenirs from the local stalls and hiring a speed boat to cruise through the bay and explore Lady of the Rock. In Athens we headed out for a tour of the Acropolis before having a delicious Greek lunch and an afternoon filled with shopping and exploring the hidden alleyways.
